All actor headshot sessions are shot in my indoor / outdoor home studio located in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. While all other sessions are located in and around Metro Detroit area, my favorite places for families and seniors are my favorite parks or in the alley way downtown. I am known for my warm soft golden light, so I have taken the time to scope out the best places with the most vibrant light highlighting what I do best. While most people love to stay close to home for convenience, I will travel to a special location for a session if requested.
What do we wear?
I am always asked ‘What should I/We wear?” and “How many outfit changes do I/We get?” With actor headshots and luxe senior sessions, I chat with you on the phone and send you outfit guidelines based on my suggestions. Regarding family sessions, I ask that you come to the session wearing what you intend to be photographed in. There is not much time in a family session for outfit changes. Please bring accessories to your session..a jacket, a scarf or a fun hat to finish off your look. Color coordination is always a plus and sticking the family or kids in a particular outfit matching the season is always a winner. Look at my galleries to get inspiration!
Here are a few guidelines for clothing choices that should help — try and stay away from logos that will be a distraction, white tends to be too bright and does not photograph well in many situations. All shirts MUST be freshly ironed. Jeans are always fun and can be mixed with just about anything. Layers are my favorite! It gives depth and texture to an image, plus it is fun to work with. Pair a nice t-shirt with a button up or a sweater and then add a jacket and a scarf to top it off. Chunky necklaces are awesome and photograph nicely, and remember complimentary colors work better than everything the same color. If you or your children have very distinct eye color, clothing that matches looks really nice and brings out the eyes. If you are a family and are struggling to find just the right outfit for our session, try this - find a dress or top in a pattern for one family member and work off of that. Building colors and textures that compliment each other. Pick one color out of that and go with it! You’ll get a nice color palette of outfits while avoiding the dreaded “everyone looks the exact same!” If you wear transitional glasses, please don’t use them for our session. If you’ve got another pair, feel free to bring them or please don’t wear them at all. For further clothing samples look at the galleries on my website or here’s a helpful tip - go on Pinterest and look at inspiration boards like Cute Family Outfits, Inspirational Family Photos, Outfits for Headshots and have fun with it! Bring your own unique vibe to the shoot, I love sassy, I love unique, I love to capture YOU.

Things to know…
Re-scheduling due to inclement weather — well we do live in Michigan and it is at the sole discretion of the photographer and are not given for regretful personal choices such as hair and clothing decisions. If you’ve booked a gig and need to reschedule, please try to do so at least 24-hours to your session. If you or your child is feeling ill, please call to reschedule. I understand that sometimes this happens. A full tummy helps keep babies and children happy and satisfied during the session. Okay, adult do too! Please bring snacks and any essentials to the shoot in case we need to take a break. Please hydrate as best you can and refrain from those salty chips and flights of beers the night before. Yikes, ain’t nobody got time for bloating. Men a good tip is to bring chap stick!
